Stuck in the Lift with… Marcus Lowe, Sales Executive

You may have spoken to him on the phone, over email or even met him at an exhibition but for those of you who haven't had the pleasure of dealing with Marcus, or are brave enough to know more about him, here's an insight into the life of Techbuyer's longest serving employee...

Where did you grow up? Harrogate, born and bred!

What's your first memory? Probably Florida when I was 5, but that could just be because I’ve seen the awful family videos.

What did you want to be when you grow up? I didn’t really have any idea to be honest… well maybe a footballer; but Techbuyer snapped me up first! I do still have a lot of sportswear...

Favourite memory at Techbuyer? There are too many to mention really, we’ve done loads of amazing things over the last 10 years and they've all played a part in Techbuyer's growth. Accidently – but safely - falling through the roof in our first office was interesting…and hard to explain?! I’ve got loads of memories of learning a lot, fast, and having a good time at work – not that I’d ever be the butt of a joke!

Where did you work previously? I didn’t - I came straight from school. I was 16 and had just finished my GCSEs. A life of servers is all I’ve ever known!

What were your first impressions of Techbuyer?! I hadn’t had any jobs previous to compare it too, but it felt pretty relaxed. With such a small group of people (when I joined) we had our own way of doing things – it was all hard work but fun.

What is your favourite thing to do out of work? I quite enjoy playing football however, I don’t play as much these days – so apart from that, it would have to be spending time with the family and my dog, Ralph

How long have you been at Techbuyer? Over 10 years. I was the first member of staff (apart from the owners). I’ve moved with Techbuyer as we’ve got bigger and we now have over 130 staff members and 4 sites worldwide.

Tell us something we don't know about you... I don’t really know how to answer with this one – most people know everything about me because I don’t stop talking on the phone! (That’s hard to argue with Marcus… but here are some things for good measure: he hates vegetables, doesn’t trust belts, loves wrapping things in tin foil, nicknames every colleague and prides himself on his - extremely suspect - year-round tan. He’s also loyal, funny and kind!)
