Yorkshire Aid Convoy

With conflict in Ukraine continuing into its second year and resources within the country in limited supply, Techbuyer has been working with local charities to deliver much needed supplies to those in need!

We worked with Reusing IT and the Yorkshire Aid Convoy to deliver 1,000 PCs to Ukrainian nationals in the country to get them back online despite the ongoing war. We supplied 1,000 SSDs that were used within the delivered PCs to make sure that the devices were working correctly and capable of supporting the needs of those who received them.

The PCs were delivered to schools, businesses and individuals to help keep life moving as it should through the uncertain times that almost all in the country are facing. Each PC was a high-quality refurbished device that can be used for educational, business or leisure purposes.

20 Years of Service | The Yorkshire Aid Convoy

The Yorkshire Aid Convoy delivers essential humanitarian aid to those in need throughout Romania and Ukraine with the aim to make a small difference to people’s lives. The charity has been operating for 20 years, delivering vital and often lifesaving equipment, materials and resources.

Between February and November 2022, 213 military attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure occurred. Targets for these attacks included internet infrastructure, electricity plants and heating facilities, leaving many without basic needs within their own homes. These attacks have continued into 2023 and so the resources provided by the Yorkshire Aid Convoy continue to be vital to many within the country.

The devices we supplied, in collaboration with Reusing IT, are now being used to educate children and keep businesses running within the country. We are proud that we are able to ‘do our bit’ in this conflict through the provision of technology.

Reusing IT | Increasing Opportunities through Technology

Reusing IT is an organisation that Techbuyer has a long history with as we share a lot of the same values around reuse and refurbishment.

Established by Ross Cockburn in 1999, Reusing IT has supplied over 3,000 PCs to countries around the world. This invaluable work has narrowed the digital gap by offering opportunities and equipment to those without. Reusing IT advances welfare and education across the world, giving new opportunities to adults, children and families globally.

Delivering PCs to Ukraine

Our work in the refurbishment and resale of secondhand technology, including components, such as the SSDs we supplied to the convoy, puts Techbuyer in a good position to donate to and aid those without access to technology.

We believe in delivering fair and equal opportunities to all, regardless of where they are in the world. We work with charities in our local area to help those in need closer to home, including Resurrected Bites and Candlelighters. Taking part in the Yorkshire Aid Convoy has allowed us to help individuals in need further afield!
