Could North Yorkshire be England’s First Carbon-Negative Region?

Carbon reduction is taking central stage at this year’s North Yorkshire Business Summit on the 21st October at the Guildhall in York. Bringing together companies from around North Yorkshire, the summit will discuss the devolution of York and North Yorkshire and how that could drive the region to be England’s first carbon-negative county.

What is Carbon-Negative?

To be carbon negative, a company, individual, region or country has to be removing more carbon from the atmosphere than they are currently producing, resulting in a reduction, rather than a balancing, of the greenhouse gases in our earth’s environment. At the 2022 York and North Yorkshire Business Summit, over 300 delegates are expected to attend and deliver their expertise on how North Yorkshire can reach this point. Guest speakers will also be presenting on their decarbonisation experiences and answering questions about environmental best practice at the event.

Techbuyer’s Sustainability lead and Chartered Environmentalist, Astrid Wynne, will be one of the speakers, discussing how companies can achieve continued business success whilst being environmentally minded.

During her presentation, Astrid will be outlining how Techbuyer has supported a circular IT economy worldwide through refurbished IT solutions, as well as through using the Interact tool, launched by Techbuyer’s sister company, Interact, to analyse the efficiency and performance of IT hardware.

The Interact tool provides precise and in-depth reporting on the performance of data centre equipment and recommends hardware upgrades to improve overall efficiency, cut running costs, and save money. The tool, therefore, helps data centres reduce their carbon footprint from their technology and promotes a circular IT economy by combining refurbished and new IT hardware recommendations.
