The ITSA Christmas Big Give

Techbuyer is supporting the Big Christmas Give this year, matching any and all financial donations made to the ITSA Digital Trust up to a grand total of £2,500! If you would like to contribute towards the amazing work the ITSA Digital Trust does, you can donate here – and we will be matching any donations made between 12pm 3rd -12pm 10th December. 

This year, the Big Christmas Give will help fund an upcoming IT Teacher Training Project in both Zimbabwe and Zambia. Their aim is to provide ICT training to over 150 teachers, with a subsequent impact on more than 150,000 students per year in Zambia and Zimbabwe. The project will cover digital skills for both teachers and pupils to help integrate ICT into the school curriculum, with the goal of maximising the benefit of computers the charity supplies to these institutions.  

Who Are the ITSA Digital Trust? 

For many of us in the UK, it is easy to take technology for granted; we can access internet across the country (minus a fair few patchy signal areas!), use computers when we need to and contact whoever we want to around the world.  

However, this is a luxury that many across the world do not have. The digital gap is a real problem in an increasingly technology-driven world. The ITSA Digital Trust works to reduce this digital gap by supplying high-quality and usable IT hardware to schools and those in need, both in Africa and the UK, along with training for teachers, usable software for classrooms and, eventually, responsible disposal of redundant equipment.  

So far, the trust has given over 6 million people access to a digital education!  Much of the technology provided is collected from businesses, including redundant laptops, desktops and peripherals. They have diverted over 130,000 computers from landfill, provided digital skills training to over 32,000 people in Gloucestershire and trained over 1,900 teachers in IT skills across Africa to name a few of their accomplishments!  

Techbuyer has been working with the ITSA Digital Trust for many years, and we are proud to announce that this month, we have joined the ITSA Digital Community Business Forum as a Founding Member.  

Being part of this group allows us to connect with other likeminded businesses to try and make a difference through the work we do and to explore ways in which we can contribute to the ongoing efforts.

How You Can Get Involved  

The Big Christmas Give launches on #GivingTuesday which, this year, falls on the 3rd December and lasts for a full week. During this week every donation is doubled, meaning that your input can make an even bigger splash in the lives of those who benefit from this charity’s work.  

So, save the date: 12pm 3rd-10th December 2024 – any donations, of any size, are always much appreciated by the organisation.  

At Techbuyer, we believe in giving technology a second life and so donating equipment and fundraising for the ITSA directly aligns with our function as a business. Being able to sustainably and responsibly extend the use phase of devices, components and peripherals, whilst aiding to bridge the digital gap meets many of our organisation’s priorities. This is why working with the ITSA has been such a rewarding experience.
