Techbuyer Gets Cooking for BBC Children In Need 2019

Techbuyer has become Masterchef for the day in order to raise money for Children In Need. The BBC organisation supports children facing disadvantages including illness, disability, poverty, abuse and distress, and its vision is that every child in the UK has a safe, happy and secure childhood.

Last night was a late one for many employees as they prepped food for today’s event. Minus a few chocolate brownie fatalities, we’ve filled the kitchen with a range of homemade bakes which are keeping everyone happy! Each item was judged by our very own Gregg Wallace, Simar, and first prize went to Melinda for their Hungarian pizza bread creation.

Unfortunately, the statistics speak for themselves: around 4 million children are currently living in poverty in the UK, and it is estimated that around 1 in 8 children aged 5 to 19 years old have a mental health disorder. Last year alone, BBC Children In Need changed the lives of over 580,000 children, and raised a record-breaking £50.5 million. Two of these charities are in our local area; Harrogate District Hospice Care has received funding to provide counselling to children affected by bereavement, whilst the Wellbeing Therapy and Training project supports young people with emotional distress and mental ill health.

By providing grants to projects across the UK, Children In Need has an incredible impact on the lives of children and young people, and is working to ensure that every child grows up in a safe and supporting environment. We're looking forward to seeing how much money we can raise for this great cause.
