Yorkshire Aid Convoy give Techbuyer’s Donated Computers to Schools in Romania

At the start of this month we announced that we funded the donation of 80 computers to the Yorkshire Aid Convoy, in collaboration with Reusing IT. Since then, the YAC have travelled around 5000km to reach the villages and towns in Romania who are most in need.

The YAC has been providing essentials to Romania and the Ukraine for the past 20 years, and this year’s trip was one of the largest to date with over 100 tons of goods. The convoy carried a variety of supplies including mattresses, healthcare equipment, washing machines and basic essentials such as toiletries and school books. The convoy included a Techbuyer sponsored truck which departed for Romania on the 2nd May.

Our donated refurbished laptops were delivered to and installed in schools across Romania, including a youth centre in Sighişoara and schools in especially economically disadvantaged areas. The school’s headteacher was overwhelmed by the donation and looked forward to her students learning IT skills, stating that many of the children have never used a computer before.

We are delighted that we could be part of the Yorkshire Aid Company’s journey. Access to technology will make a huge difference to children in Romanian schools and we hope to get involved in their next trip. The YAC rely on volunteers and donations to provide much needed support to Romania, so please click here to see how you can help.
