What is the Carbon Savings Calculator?

Our carbon savings calculator is a tool that informs us on the amount of CO2e (combined greenhouse gasses) customers help save by buying refurb laptops, servers, networking devices, HDDs, SSDs, mobiles, and tablets rather than new.

After purchasing a refurbished device or component from Techbuyer, we can supply you with a certificate highlighting the carbon cost against choosing new equipment.

This tool is designed to give customers insight into the positive environmental impact of their decisions. You can use the figures in their sustainability reporting and marketing to outline their environmentally conscious approach to IT procurement.

The calculator can also be used by our ITAD and sell to us customers, highlighting how much carbon they save by selling their used technology to ITAD.

For example, for a company or educational body looking to refresh their laptops – purchasing 20 refurbished laptops rather than 20 new devices will result in a carbon saving of 5522kg (or one and a half hippos if that’s your measurement of choice!).

Similarly, purchasing even single refurbished server offers a carbon saving of 1091kg against purchasing a new device (3/10s of a hippo if you were wondering...).
