Stuck in the Elevator With… Chris Towers, USA Business Manager

After years of IT sales and purchasing experience, and thriving for almost two years at Techbuyer in Harrogate, Chris left behind the dubious Spotify playlists and half-hearted offers to make coffee of our UK office and moved to Minnesota to lead Techbuyer USA. Here’s a quick interview with our USA Business Manager about where he grew up, his favourite memory of Techbuyer and more. The UK team - and especially its pool players - will never forgive him for leaving us!

Where did you grow up? Harrogate, UK. A town in North Yorkshire (AKA gods country) set in brilliant countryside and home to Techbuyer HQ!

Favourite memory at Techbuyer? My initial visit to the USA warehouse. Watching it evolve since has been great. We’ve recently moved to an even bigger 10,000 sq. ft. warehouse meaning we now hold almost 50,000 products and 8,000 product lines in New Jersey. It’s been great seeing the business grow and the team develop, but I will always remember my first time visiting the USA warehouse!

How long have you been at Techbuyer? I was actually there at the start of what was then known as Pinnacle and re-joined the team at Techbuyer in January 2016.

What were your first impressions of Techbuyer? Such a great group of people with so many talented individuals. There was an obvious ethos that ran throughout the company; a driven and friendly culture where everyone was working towards the same goal to make the business the best at what it does!

What is your favourite thing to do out of work? Spending time with family.

Tell us something we don’t know about you… I have worked in the data centre industry since I was 16 years old. I’ll let you guess how long that actually is…
