Reflecting on 1 Year at our Expanded NJ Warehouse

It’s been one year since Techbuyer USA moved to a larger warehouse in West Deptford, NJ. A larger space means that our US operations are able to continue doing what we do best, but on a greater scale!

Maral O’Brien, who is our US Marketing Coordinator recently sat down with Chris Towers, Techbuyer US Managing Director to discuss the recent warehouse expansion and what it means for the US market.

Last year, Techbuyer in New Jersey moved to a new warehouse - what inspired this move?

We moved in March 2021. We had really started to expand our stock holding and operational capabilities over the previous couple of years and we needed more space to grow into in the future.

Last year we really focused on expanding our ITAD (IT Asset Disposition) service as well as our testing and Configure to Order capabilities. As these have grown from strength to strength, we realized that we quickly needed more space and therefore needed to expand.

Our former warehouse was also in West Deptford – just down the street!

With this larger warehouse what other processes are made easier?

Certainly our ITAD service, as we are able to bring in larger lots of IT equipment. With more space, we are also able to process this equipment to R2 V3 standards, something we have been able to achieve since moving.

Our shipping & receiving departments are able to perform all tasks more efficiently. Even things like the amount of packaging we are able to store – giving us more range of packaging to ensure all parts are shipped well protected and as economical as possible.

How has the warehouse expansion positively impacted our customers?

It’s given us more ability to grow our CTO capabilities. This is really beneficial to customers as they are able to have a custom server tailored to meet their exact requirements. We then build, test and, if required, configure the server, all completely free of charge. Our CTO service is becoming increasingly popular and we’ve been able to carry out more CTO in the past year as a result of having more space.

With a larger warehouse we also of course have more space for stock. We are able to dispatch more orders out each day. For our customers, this means that we can ship right out until 7pm ET to help them reach those mission critical deadlines.

What does the warehouse expansion mean for Techbuyer US?

Our operations in the US are growing and we are really serious about the global expansion of Techbuyer.

Increasing our ITAD capabilities means that we’re able to help more businesses in the US to securely and properly dispose of their retired IT equipment. This is really important as electronic waste is a growing issue, so US companies need a reliable service that will collect and transport redundant IT devices and dispose of them in the most sustainable and secure way.

With more space, we can also increase our stock holding which increases the availability of stock for our customers in the US. We also ship globally, so being able to store more stock means that we can better serve Techbuyer’s customers around the world.

How do you see the US facilities growing in the future?

We do have better coverage of the West Coast now with our new office in Vancouver, Canada. We are able to now better geographically cover the US as a market. We are expanding in Minnesota, New Jersey, and Canada and will continue to do so. This growth across all North American time zones offers better coverage and better service for our customers.

Do you see the new warehouse allowing us to offer more services to our US customers?

Our ITAD service will definitely continue to grow as there is a lot of demand for secure IT disposal. We buy any enterprise IT equipment including servers, storage, networking, HDDs, CPUs, server memory and other hardware from over 150 brands including HP, Dell, Intel, IBM and Cisco. The new warehouse also gives us more capacity to deliver our CTO service, something which our customers have really appreciated.

We have world-class data erasure facilities, and we’ve actually been modifying our drive test area so that we can test more drives more efficiently going forward. There’s definitely scope to do more testing in this new warehouse.

We also test and sort hundreds of memory modules every week with the support of our five state-of-the-art memory testing robots. I think with an expanded warehouse, there’s potential to be processing a lot more memory.

It’s safe to say that the expansion of our US warehouse will be hugely beneficial for our customers, so make sure to watch this space and stay tuned to see how we grow our US operations! To stay up to date with Techbuyer US, follow us on LinkedIn!
