Geelong Chamber of Commerce: Meeting Businesses Down Under

A few months after opening our facility in Geelong, Australia, Techbuyer has joined the Geelong Chamber of Commerce. As the largest organisation of its kind in the region, The Geelong Chamber of Commerce brings business professionals together across Geelong, Australia in order to support local business growth in the region. The organisation hosts large networking events for its 900 members, providing the perfect opportunity for businesses to make new contacts.

At Techbuyer we have recently expanded our operations to South Geelong, and we are keen to build relationships with locals and to discover other businesses in the area. Australasia’s focus on sustainability is something we are particularly eager to contribute to, since providing greener IT solutions is at the heart of what we do. By refurbishing IT equipment, we help to keep finite materials such as steel in use for longer, prevent useful hardware going to waste and reduce carbon emissions. We are looking forward to joining forces with other sustainability focused businesses and discussing how to make operations even more environmentally friendly.

Simon Atkinson, Purchasing and Operations Manager at Techbuyer Australia, will be attending the Chamber of Commerce meetings. Simon moved from North Yorkshire, UK to South Geelong at the end of last year to set up Techbuyer’s first site in Australia. He comments: “Australasia was an obvious next step for us because of its thriving tech industry, sustainable attitudes and proximity to our loyal customers in the wider Oceania area. Being a part of the Geelong Chamber of Commerce is the perfect opportunity to get to know other businesses here and to make some long-lasting relationships.

“As we continue to establish Techbuyer in the Geelong area over the next 12 months we will begin to recruit a number of key roles required to enable us to grow our local service offerings, including technicians, procurement and operational staff.
