Vigor2830 Dual-WAN ADSL2/2+ Security Firewall Series
The Vigor2830 Dual-WAN ADSL2/2+ Security Firewall series offers a range of models, including the Vigor2830, Vigor2830n, Vigor2830Vn, Vigor2830n-plus, and Vigor2830Vn-plus. These routers are equipped with 1-port ADSL2/2+ WAN, 1-port Giga Ethernet WAN, and 1 USB port for 3.5G USB modem, providing flexible and future-proof connection options for current and next-generation network infrastructure.
Flexible WAN Interface for Load Balancing, Backup, and Bandwidth Management
In addition to the ADSL interface, the Vigor2830 series also has an additional Giga Ethernet WAN interface, allowing users to connect to a second ADSL modem from another ISP or a cable/VDSL2/Ethernet FTTx modem. The USB port can also be used as a third WAN interface via 3.5G mobile broadband. These three WAN interfaces can be used for load balancing to optimize bandwidth usage, and can also act as failover backups in case of downtime. This feature is especially useful for businesses with multiple ISPs, ensuring uninterrupted internet access even if one or two ISPs experience temporary outages. The router's 4-port Gigabit LAN switch also facilitates smooth data transmission for bandwidth-intensive applications.
Tag-Based Multi-Subnet Function for Enhanced Security
The Vigor2830 series is equipped with a tag-based multi-subnet function, allowing for the creation of multiple subnets to satisfy the security needs of distinguishing extranet and corporate intranet. This feature can also be used to configure different subnets for specific applications, such as VoIP and IPTV, to prevent interference.
USB Port for 3.5G, FTP, and Printer Server
In addition to 3.5G/4G mobile broadband, the USB port on the Vigor2830 series also supports printer servers and allows for the connection of a USB disk or hard drive for FTP file transfer over the internet or local networks. The network administrator can set username and password credentials, as well as access privileges for individual users.
The Vigor2830 series utilizes a hardware-based VPN platform and hardware encryption of AES/DES/3DS to increase the performance of VPN and offer several protocols (such as IPSec/PPTP/L2TP) with up to 32 VPN tunnels. The SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) firewall uses an object-based design, making it easy to set firewall policies. This type of firewall is flexible and allows for a safe network. The router also offers DoS/DDoS prevention and URL/Web content filtering for enhanced security and control. The enterprise-level CSM (Content Security Management) feature enables users to control and manage IM (Instant Messenger) and P2P (Peer-to-Peer) applications more efficiently, preventing inappropriate content from distracting employees and impeding productivity. Additionally, the CSM helps keep office networks threat-free and available.
The Vigor2830 Series (Version 3.6.3) also supports SNMPv3, which is more secure than SNMPv2 due to its encryption method (supporting AES and DES) and authentication method (supporting MD5 and SHA) for management needs.
The Vigor2830 series also supports DrayTek's SmartMonitor network activity management application (up to 30 users), which captures live data of activities in the managed network, such as the content of MSN entering or leaving the network. This feature allows users to track specified file downloads/uploads or view statistics on data type activities, helping to identify any accidental or intentional release of corporate-related information.
In addition to the encryption methods of WEP/WPA/WPA2 and MAC address control, the Vigor2830 series also offers wireless LAN isolation, Wireless VLAN, and 802.1X authentication. The WDS (Wireless Distribution System) feature makes it easy to extend wireless coverage. The wireless rate control allows for the adjustment of the connection rate for each wireless station. The WMM (Wi-Fi multimedia) feature prioritizes voice, video, and audio applications in a Wi-Fi network, lowering the priority of other network traffic that is not time-critical, such as large file downloads.
