Removing a RAID Controller from a Dell Server
Removing your RAID controller from a Dell Server can look like a complicated process, however, once you are confident with the system board and removing and inserting components, it is an easy process. We have put together this guide to help you learn the process of removing a RAID controller.

In this video we will be demonstrating how to remove your RAID controller from your Dell server, using the Dell PER620 as an example. Whilst we may be using this server, the process can be applied to most Dell servers. Simply follow the steps laid out below or in the video.

RAID Removal from a Dell Server:

  • Power down the server before you start so as not to damage the equipment and keep yourself safe.
  • Remove the cables from the ports on the system boards.
  • Push down on the blue clips on the sides of the RAID controller to release it from the system board. Take care here so as not to damage the clips as they can be delicate.
  • Lift the RAID controller out of the Unit.
  • If you are replacing your RAID controller, you can watch our RAID controller installation guide for Dell servers here.
