Inserting RAM Memory to a Dell Server
Adding or inserting memory modules, such as RAM, to your server is essential to enhance your IT system's performance and increase the speed of your server. Adding memory is a simple enough process, however, system boards can be complicated and for the first few times, guidance is advised so as not to damage any existing, or new equipment.

Inserting RAM into your Dell server is an easy enough process, you can do this yourself by following the simple steps outlined below. We will be using the Dell PER620 as an example, however, this process can be applied to most Dell servers.

Memory Insert

  • Before you start, power down the server. This protects the equipment from damage and also keeps you safe in the process.
  • Open the clips on either side of the memory slot.
  • Align the small notch on the memory module with the one on the memory slot.
  • Gently push your memory down until both clips close, securing your memory in place.
  • Repeat this process for as much memory as you wish to install into the server.

Whether you are replacing older modules, repairing your memory with new additions, or inserting additional RAM, this guide will help you with the process. If you are looking to remove memory from your server, watch our next short video here.
