Techbuyer Supports the UN Global Goals

We’re committed to driving sustainable development across the technology sector.

VIEW OUR NEW TARGETS

Developing a Framework for Sustainable Development

In 2019, Techbuyer launched a nine-target framework to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals over 6 years.

2025 marked the end of these first set of sustainability targets we set all those years ago. This year, we asked our team for feedback across all the targets to get their thoughts on where we take our sustainable focus for the future.

From this feedback, we developed a new SDG framework to help support our sustainable development, with new targets set to measure progress against.

Our Previous Commitments

From the nine targets, set against three of the UN Global Goals, back in 2019, we are proud to have achieved five of our commitments, ranging from employee active hours, to diverting millions of kilograms of technology from landfill.

Our commitment to Net Zero

Techbuyer’s Net Zero Commitment

Techbuyer is committed to becoming a Net Zero company by 2050. In 2021 we set an ambitious reduction plan across the business to help drive our company towards a more sustainable future.

Frequently Asked Questions

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals are 17 different objectives, set with the aim of achieving prosperity for all without compromising on the needs of future generations.

Organisations are encouraged to choose their own achievable targets aimed at tackling (amongst others) societal inequality, environmental degradation and poverty.

The SDGs, as a concept, align closely with Techbuyer’s core values and overall sustainability mission. They also give us a collective reason to commit to do good in areas that we can tangibly make a difference, such as helping local charities and keeping technology out of landfill.

Every one of our 9 targets set against the UN SDGs were made with the following considerations:

  • Is it something we can make a measurable difference in?
  • Are we realistically capable of achieving these goals?
  • Is it relevant to Techbuyer’s operations?
  • Is this a goal Techbuyer staff are enthusiastic to support?

Techbuyer’s SDG programme makes up part of our sustainability strategy, so we take great care setting realistic, measurable targets against the goals in which we can make an impact.

Data is collected by Techbuyer offices on a monthly basis. We share opportunities for involvement and employee successes in internal communications to encourage staff involvement. We then report on progress internally through newsletters, as well as externally through our yearly sustainability report.

Each of our services is designed to help our customers work environmental best practice into their IT infrastructure. We develop internal processes, policies and procedures to ensure that our services can deliver against sustainable best practice. For example, we developed a zero-to-landfill policy to support our technology buyback and e-waste recycling services to ensure that no equipment we receive through these services ends up where it shouldn’t.

Our refurbished technology stimulates the circular economy; however, we ensure that these devices and components are also a viable and reliable solution by providing a three-year warranty and a comprehensive testing process. This makes sustainable technology solutions easier to consider for businesses around the world.

The deadline for our new sustainable development targets is end of September 2030. This gives us 5 years to make as big an impact as possible and drive sustainable development in measurable ways.
