Conversely the purpose of Recycling is to recover materials and reduce waste. This will often involve disassembly & separation of various materials. This allows the different materials to be reused in new or refurbished products.

Recycling electronics correctly prevents environmental damage to the land and water ways, it allows us to Recover valuable materials for reuse, reduce the amount of waste in landfills and supports sustainable practices by with the creation of new products made from recycled materials.

Electronics can contain up to 17 of the 35 Critical Raw Materials deemed in short supply by the EU. Recovered components can be reused in repairing or refurbishing equipment, aid remanufacturing or when refined, materials can be turned into Jewelry or even building materials. The possibilities are endless if processed correctly.

If electronics end up in landfill the materials within them are wasted and can no longer be recovered, putting even more pressure on the mining of resources and carbon-intensive manufacturing processes. Similarly, e-waste is often shipped off to developing countries where it can cause health issues for the local communities thanks to chemical leakages and dangerous methods for retrieving materials.
