Background

The British Society of Urogenital Radiology (BSUR) is a charitable society that promotes training, education and research within the urogenital radiology field. The charity organises training and education sessions to UK and overseas medical practitioners.

The BSUR required 2 rooms set up at Crowne Plaza hotel Harrogate for a 1 day training workshop on prostate and gynaecological imaging. It involved around 80+ radiologists and a large faculty using a web based software for image viewing. The workshop was part of a larger educational conference spread over 2 days at the Harrogate Convention Centre. The setup required a classroom layout with sufficient laptops and peripherals to support all attendees.  

The Challenge

The main challenge faced was the required internet speeds to use the web based software; the minimum required speed was 20 mbps per laptop. This required a wired connection as the hotel Wi-Fi was inconsistent and offered minimal speeds, especially due to the potential of the 100+ attendees all joining the Wi-Fi on their personal devices.

However, the rooms were also required to be setup in half a day ready for the workshop to start at 9am on the day so as to cause as little disruption as possible to the venue. The kit supplied also had to be reliable, with provisions for system failures or accidental damage.
