Techbuyer at DCD Awards

We are delighted to announce that Techbuyer has been shortlisted for the Energy Impact Award in the prestigious Data Center Dynamics (DCD) Awards 2022! We are being recognised for the work we do in analysis of impacts and effectiveness of IT Hardware through our development of Interact, the world’s first and only solution to measure energy draw from servers, and the launch of our sister company of the same name.

The DCD Awards, to be held at a gala event in London on December 7, sees Techbuyer and Interact nominated alongside global technology heavyweights including Microsoft and Intel. The Energy Impact Award, a new category for the awards this year, recognises the most innovative and efficient ways in which data centres are sourcing, managing and conserving energy. As well as Microsoft, previous DCD Awards winners include luminaries such as Dell EMC, Bouygues and NVIDIA, leaving us in good company!

Enhancing Data Centre Design and Build through Energy Efficiency

Launched in 2021, Interact is a business specialising in enabling data centre professionals and large enterprises to significantly minimise their carbon footprint, curb CO2 emissions and gain major infrastructure cost reductions. Developed during a research project partnership with the University of East London, the business uses its unique machine learning solution to provide analysis on energy efficiency, carbon impact and performance capability for any make, model, configuration and generation of server. This allows organisations to evaluate their entire IT infrastructure to gain previously unseen recommendations for increasing efficiency.

We are thrilled to be shortlisted for such a prestigious award; the nomination enhances our growing reputation in the data centre sector. It reflects our commitment to improving energy efficiency in data centre design and build which, now more than ever, is a crucial consideration. Interact is today a vital addition to the process of accelerating efficient energy use regarding data centre dynamics and management in the UK and worldwide.

The Importance of Energy Efficiency in Data Centre Mangement

Interact’s arrival on the world stage comes not a moment too soon; data centres are responsible for an enormous amount of the planet’s carbon footprint and energy consumption. By providing optimal recommendations about hardware solutions, Interact allows today’s businesses to boost the efficiency of their IT infrastructure and significantly reduce their environmental impact. Globally unique, it is the only tool on the market to do this while at the same time providing vendor-neutral hardware recommendations on make, model and configuration.

Now in its 16th year, the DCD Awards showcases the most exceptional projects, people and organisations in the global data centre arena. Every entry is judged independently by a panel of distinguished experts from major players including Intel, Equinix, Microsoft, AWS and Quark as well as leaders from an array of other technology heavyweights.

As the rapidly growing data centre sector’s demand for energy increases worldwide, so too does the role Interact plays in improving energy efficiency across the board. It enables businesses to address complex environmental considerations about data centre power consumption and identifies optimum hardware options to deliver the equivalent or better compute power with lower energy usage, cost and carbon emissions. Thanks to Interact, with vendor neutral new and refurbished/remanufactured solutions easily accessible, the global data centre sector now has solid scientific solutions when addressing the problems of economics, energy use and materials waste.

Here at Techbuyer, we are proud to be nominated in the DCD Awards 2022 with Interact being recognised as a groundbreaking development that really can change the face of data centre energy efficiency and environmental impact worldwide – for the better.
