Techbuyer Helps Leeds-Based Company, Rhodar, Donate Laptops and Desktops to Yorkshire Schools

Rhodar, a UK leader in specialist asbestos removal, demolition, and land remediation services with headquarters in Leeds, recently donated 60 IT devices to help school children during the pandemic.

The donation comes at a crucial time, with an estimated 1.5 million children across the UK living with limited access to internet bearing devices during lockdown. In some cases, the only way pupils can access their remote learning assignments is through their parent’s phone.

Jason Davy – Rhodar Managing Director commented:“The onset of COVID-19 last year meant that a high proportion of our staff began working from home, which generated the need to re-equip all our office teams with portable laptops.”

“Our IT team did a fantastic job rolling out this new equipment across the UK, whilst at the same time assembling and cataloguing all of the recovered units. I am therefore delighted that we have been able to make such a substantial donation just as the need to support remote school learning has become so critical.”

Rhodar approached the Techbuyer IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) team for a secure and charitable solution for their used devices.

“A key factor in us choosing to partner Techbuyer in this process was they can enable this equipment to have a ‘second life’,” Jason continued. “This directly helps dozens of school children and families during these incredibly challenging times.”

Techbuyer securely collected, data erased, refurbished and tested all IT equipment to guarantee excellent reliability. As an ADISA certified company, Techbuyer provides the highest level of security in the ITAD industry, giving Rhodar complete peace of mind that their sensitive data has been protected.

Tom Scott, Business Development Manager at Techbuyer ITAD stated: “My initial phone call with Rhodar was nothing short of heart-warming and brilliant. Jason said he wished to donate to children who are in desperate need of these assets to continue their education from home.”

“We cannot thank Jason and Rhodar enough for this kind donation. The bonus of working with Rhodar on this project is that Techbuyer has agreed to donate some laptops to my children’s school in Sheffield to help my son and daughters’ peers. We are hopeful that more of our customers who have the ability to donate laptops to children contact us and donate as little or as much as they can.”

Rhodar is trusted by major corporations across the country, with a proven track record in delivering high-end projects since 1976. Supported by over 500 employees across 14 facilities nationwide, the team provides specialist responses to asbestos related issues and an unrivalled approach to demolition and remediation services across both public and private sectors.

Techbuyer maximises IT budgets by selling cost-effective new and refurbished IT hardware. We also extend IT life cycles by refurbishing, upgrading and repairing used IT devices. To further support remote learning during the pandemic, we are partnering with Digital Access For All (DAFA). This is an initiative which distributes laptops – donated by corporations – to school pupils across the UK. All quality technology is handled by ADISA partners like Techbuyer to ensure that every single device meets the highest quality and security standards.

The Digital Access For All program is currently looking for donations from businesses. If you’d like to help, please visit the ADISA site. Or if you are a school in need of technology, please fill out this form to let ADISA know your exact requirements.
