How to insert a RAIDController into a HPE Server
Installing your RAID controller correctly and securely is essential to the efficient running of your server. Your RAID controller is in charge of your HDDs or SSDs, meaning that it is an important component to your server and so must be installed correctly.

In this video we demonstrate how to install a RAID controller into an HPE DL380 G9 server, however, this process can be carried across to most Dell servers.

RAID Controller Insertion:

  • Before starting, power down the server to protect your equipment and yourself from harm.
  • Loosen the screws with the screwdriver on the PCI riser and lift to remove from the unit.
  • Locate the RAID card and push the component down to fix in place, then tighten the screws to secure.
  • Insert the cables into the matching ports on the RAID card. These ports and cables are labelled to ensure that you connect them correctly.
  • Replace the PCI riser by sliding it into place and pushing it down to secure. Screw in place to secure and complete installation.
