How to Remove a RAID Controller from A HPE Server
Removing equipment correctly is just as important as the installation process, as you don't want to damage the server or any individual components.  Your RAID controller can be a delicate piece of equipment and so removing it effectively and safely is essential for the health of your server as a whole.

In this video we remove the RAID controller from an HPE DL380 G9, however, this process can be followed for most HPE servers.

How to remove a RAID controller:

  • Power down the server before starting to ensure that you and your equipment are protected.
  • Loosen the screws of the PCI riser and lift out. Put to one side.
  • Remove the cables that are plugged into the ports of the RAID controller.
  • Loosen the screws on the RAID card and use the flap to lift the card from the server.
  • Replace the PCI rise by sliding it in place and pushing it down.
  • Secure in place with a screwdriver, tightening the PCI riser in place through the screws.

If you are looking to replace or upgrade your RAID controller, ignore the last two steps and follow our guide on installing a RAID controller.
