Going Full Circle: Techbuyer Features in DCM Magazine
Techbuyer has featured in this quarter's DCM magazine with their article "Going Full Circle" by CEO Mick Payne. Data Centre Management is a quarterly publication aimed at providing management solutions for data centres and offering case studies for new and innovative ideas. The publication aims to keep data centre managers up to date with all that is going on in this ever-developing and rapidly changing industry.

The article is based on why the refurbished market has blossomed in the face of supply shortages caused by the pandemic, Brexit and chip shortages that have resulted in massive shipment delays across the world, as well as a struggle to keep up with the demand on new tech. Despite this struggle to meet requirements, the refurbished stock market has taken off, with many turning to used equipment that is readily available over new devices and components that could take weeks or months to arrive.

Key Points:

  • Delayed manufacturing spurred a global chip shortage at the start of the pandemic, fuelling the extensive delays that were developing around the world.
  • The refurbished market has taken off in this situation as companies turn to used and recycled equipment that can be ordered and delivered immediately.
  • Following a survey conducted in August 2020, 82% of businesses we asked rated stock availability as a priority in purchasing IT equipment. This was closely followed by reliability which was also considered a must, particularly with repeat customers.
  • Choosing refurbished can not only drastically reduce lead times, but it is also the sustainable choice. Techbuyer has a zero-to-landfill policy and aims to reduce the quantity of valuable technology making its way to landfill.
