Exciting times for Australian move

International trade has been a big part of Techbuyer’s recent success. We already buy and sell to over 50 Australian and New Zealand businesses even with the time and physical distance. However, it made sense to develop on this by making Australia and New Zealand the next step in our global expansion. New Zealand will expand on our service offering. The Australian operations hub gives us physical coverage in a similar time zone.

The two new offices allow Techbuyer to offer even faster, secure and environmentally sound solution for local customers looking to get a cash return on IT hardware refresh. We now have follow the sun coverage from our global offices, and customers in Asia Pacific can benefit from our fast turn-around on quotes. We will also be able to offer express delivery options like same-day for time-critical requirements.

Thriving Tech sector

The Melbourne facility is the perfect partner to our sales offering of value-driven, high quality data centre solutions. The dynamic culture of technological development is a great opportunity as well. With a large proportion of local start-ups (50,000 Australians have the job title “founder”), and the growth of AI in established industries like mining, the country is going to need lots more affordable IT infrastructure hardware going forward. We intend to deliver this with high-quality brand name refurbished equipment with a 3-year warranty.

The State of Victoria is attractive to a company like Techbuyer because of how active it is in the tech sector. Home to 14% of the country’s tech start-ups, the city promises to be a good place the kind of energetic, enthusiastic and well-trained staff we will need to set up the operations facility. With strong trading relationships with the US and Asia – two more of Techbuyer’s key markets – it is an excellent choice for logistics too.

Culture of sustainability

Environmental issues are important to the Australian market, and we are keen to take add our message of reuse and product life extension to the conversation. There is some fantastic research generating creative solutions to recycling components end of life. However, keeping them in use for as long as possible reduces carbon emissions and makes best use of raw materials for longer. Research shows that refurbishment creates more jobs than recycling, which makes it a good choice for the economy too.

Reading through industry reports, we were really pleased to see this sentiment reflected by Australian thinkers. A lot of people are talking about how all levels of society – managers, educators, developers and individual users – need to make the right choices about how we design and use technology going forward. “We are responsible for the things we make,” is one quote we read on this… and loved it.

As technology explodes, improves efficiency and makes our lives easier, we are going to have to change the way we think about the hardware that supports it. Finding ways to make the best use of resources is something we really care about at Techbuyer. It’s great to see our new home is also fully behind the sentiment.
