Business to Consumer Warranty Policy

Version no: 1.0
Published: 1st May 2026

At Techbuyer, we take great pride in the quality, reliability, and performance of every product we supply. Because of this, we treat all warranty claims with the utmost care and consideration. Our team is committed to ensuring that any issues are handled promptly, thoroughly, and with a focus on delivering the best possible outcome for our Customers.

This policy sets out the requirements that apply when you wish to submit a warranty claim for a Product and you made the original purchase in accordance with the terms and conditions applicable to consumer sales. Where there is no material fault with the Product, you should refer to the procedures contained in the Techbuyer Returns Policy relating to sales of Products to consumers

Techbuyer’s policy is that all warranty commitments are personal to the original purchaser and are non-transferable unless expressly agreed with the Customer.

Techbuyer provides different warranty periods dependent upon whether the Product is;

  • A Configure to Order (CTO) system, which is an enterprise server, storage, or networking device assembled to a defined specification. That specification may be provided by the Customer or confirmed through a configuration review conducted by Techbuyer, during which the Customer’s requirements are validated and an agreed, deliverable specification is established. Configuration elements may include processors, memory, network interface cards, and firmware versions, amongst others. Or
  • A Commodity Product, means any item supplied by Techbuyer without configuration. This includes, but is not limited to, individual IT components such as memory modules, hard disk drives, and network cards, as well as complete server or networking systems that require no assembly or configuration prior to dispatch.

Validity Period of a Warranty

The standard warranty period is 12 months for CTO systems and 90 days for Commodity Products. For direct purchases from Techbuyer (excluding online orders) an extended warranty is available on application at the time that the order is placed and subject to an additional charge. This extends cover to 36 months in total for CTO systems, and 12 months in total for Commodity Products.

Before Initiating a Warranty Claim

If you identify an issue with a Product that you believe falls under Techbuyer’s warranty, we recommend contacting us for a technical consultation. This enables us to assist in diagnosing and resolving the issue where possible, or to confirm whether a warranty claim should be initiated.

We can be contacted here.

Each warranty claim includes 30 minutes of complimentary consultation time available during Techbuyer’s usual business hours limited to 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday and excluding Bank and Public holidays. Any additional time required beyond this allowance may be chargeable to the Customer at Techbuyer’s discretion, at a rate determined under the Techbuyer Rate Card available at [ insert url].

If our specialists are unable to resolve the issue during the consultation, the Customer should proceed to initiate a warranty claim. Should Techbuyer subsequently accept the warranty claim following assessment of the Product, the consultation fees paid in respect of that Product will be refunded in full.

Should you wish to return a Product(s) you are first requested to complete the Returns Form, available on the Techbuyer website at a href="returns#contact">here. You must initiate the return within the one year or 90 days or (if applicable) three year warranty period which in each case is calculated from the date the Product was delivered to you. The delivery date shall be assumed to be the date agreed between Techbuyer and Techbuyer’s service provider unless the Customer provides evidence of a later actual delivery date, which Techbuyer will consider reasonably.

We do require the Order Acceptance number you were quoted at the time the Order was placed and confirmation of the Serial Number of the Product and therefore completion of this form is mandatory.

In case of doubt, or if the reason for the return differs from those listed above, it is recommended that you should check by contacting RMA@techbuyer.com before dispatching the Product(s). Techbuyer will always address return requests in compliance with consumer rights legislation.

Once the Returns Form has been completed, a member of our team will contact you with a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) Number and delivery address, after which the Product may be dispatched back to Techbuyer.

Any costs that you incur due to fault in or misdescription of a Product or other failure to satisfy your consumer rights in relation to the supply of the Product is the responsibility of Techbuyer.

Techbuyer will acknowledge receipt of the returned Product(s) by email to the address provided when the return was initiated. Assistance in the return of a Product to Techbuyer does not imply agreement that any warranty claim made has been accepted by Techbuyer.

Returns are accepted subject to validation by Techbuyer of the warranty claim. Techbuyer aims to evaluate the warranty claim within ten Business Days of receiving the Product(s). Techbuyer may contact the Customer for further information to support assessment of the claim, and the Customer is requested to respond promptly. Delay may extend the period required for Techbuyer’s evaluation.

How we confirm our agreement to the warranty claim

Upon the warranty claim being accepted Techbuyer will confirm this to you in writing that this is the case and shall:

  • accept liability to meet the reasonable carriage costs incurred by Customer in returning the Product(s) subject to seeing evidence to the reasonable satisfaction of Techbuyer of the costs incurred;
  • refund the cost of any consultation fee that may have been charged;
  • advise you of the decision of Techbuyer to make good the circumstances that led to the warranty claim which may be one of the following:
    • Techbuyer may carry out any necessary repair where this is considered feasible;
    • Techbuyer may replace the item with a replacement the same or if considered reasonable an item with an equivalent specification; or
    • Techbuyer may make a refund to cover the original purchase price together with the Customer’s reasonable costs of returning the item.

When we regard a warranty claim as invalid

If there are any questions as to whether in any given circumstances a warranty claim is likely to be accepted by Techbuyer please contact us at RMA@techbuyer.com We will be happy to help.

Without prejudice to your rights as a Consumer the following are for guidance provided as circumstances in which warranty claims are unlikely to be accepted by Techbuyer:

  • Improper installation or configuration – including where the Product has been modified in some manner
  • Use of the Product in environmental conditions outside specification (to include temperature, humidity, voltage)
  • The Product has been modified from the original manufacturer specification
  • Cosmetic damage not affecting functionality
  • There is evidence of serial number removal or tampering
  • The Customer has been unable to demonstrate that the original purchase was from Techbuyer
  • Techbuyer’s inspection of the item identifies the inclusion of non-compatible or counterfeit consumables/components.

The Techbuyer warranty excludes any updates to software within applications or any operating system firmware or patches that are manufacturer provided.

When we have put matters right and returned a Product to you.

The Product continues to benefit from the remaining period of the original warranty. This also applies when we substitute an alternative product – with the remainder of the original warranty period applying.

If a Warranty Claim is Rejected - Returning your Product.

We will assist you in securing the return of the item concerned. We reserve the right to charge a return fee to cover the costs of carriage (including insurance) and will provide you with a quotation and request your confirmation of acceptance and payment against an invoice that will on your acceptance of the return costs be processed and provided to you by email.

Should you decline to have the Product returned or fail to respond to our notification of the costs for returning the Product within a period of one month this shall be taken as an authorisation that Techbuyer may dispose of the Product as it considers appropriate. Techbuyer has a policy of donating to charity any proceeds of sale raised through the disposal of a Product in accordance with this provision of the policy.
