Developing Rewarding Careers

Techbuyer's Apprenticeship Partnerships and Case Study

“The apprenticeship training helped with my work at Techbuyer as I’d come back from a week of learning at the training centre and immediately I was able to apply what I’d learnt to the role. The job role and the training worked together well. Completing my apprenticeship was made much easier by the work I was doing as I had lots of evidence to put into my work portfolio.

Techbuyer were great mentors throughout my apprenticeships. They prioritised my apprenticeship work and gave me lots of time to get the most out of it. I’d recommend doing an IT apprenticeship at Techbuyer.”

The Challenge

With estimates of up to 49% of IT firms in the UK experiencing Internal Tech skills shortages, there is an established need for the employment of qualified IT professionals. However, many ‘entry level’ positions require previous work experience that is not easy to come by, thanks to the conundrum of ‘needing experience to get experience’.

With technology advancing rapidly, even those with experience can be left behind in a competitive job market. This is where apprenticeships show their value, in fact, the vast majority of apprentices continue to work at their current employer post-apprenticeship.

Apprenticeships

Techbuyer started taking on apprentices in 2017 with the goal of equipping young people with the tools they need to build a successful career in IT: Improved skills and the potential of employment. Since 2017 we have taken on a total of 8 apprentices to help develop meaningful and skillful careers.

The training offered includes certification from Microsoft, The British Computing Society, CompTIA Network+ and Security+.
Since 2017 many members of staff have taken on new apprenticeship challenges, including level 3 and 4 qualifications.

“I’ve found the Apprenticeship to be really good here at Techbuyer. You instantly feel part of the team and never feel like ‘just an apprentice’. I would recommend to anyone looking to learn but also gain experience on the job.”
