The Bike that will never win the UCIs but will cause a stir anyway - Harrogate Advertiser

This week, we announced Techbuyer's latest exciting project: a bike sculpture made from almost 1000 redundant IT parts. The Harrogate Advertiser, a local newspaper that publishes the latest Harrogate business, sport, leisure news and features, published the news on their website on 17th September 2019. To find out more about our IT bike, check out our blog here.

Article summary:

  • The life-size bike sculpture, called Victoria Pedalton, was created using redundant servers, CPUs, memory and heatsinks, and Techbuyer hopes the project will highlight the value in redundant IT hardware.
  • Despite the fact that 90% of IT equipment can be reused, around 50 million tonnes of e-waste are produced worldwide every year.
  • The bike has been seeing the Yorkshire sights and will be seen alongside the race routes once the UCI Championships begin.
